Aufbau einer nachhaltigen Seifenmanufaktur

In December 2024, Aulaterra e.V., together with the Schmidt Foundation in Germany and the local organization Stg. Babel Food Resort, launched a new project to support women in the villages of Kwakoegron, Commisariskondre, and Makakiki in Suriname. The goal is to establish a sustainable soap-making enterprise that empowers women and strengthens their communities.

Over the course of one year, a group of women will learn how to produce soap using medicinal herbs from their surroundings. Selling these products will provide them with an additional source of income to complement their agricultural work.

In January 2025, a preparatory meeting was held at the Commisariskondre community center, where the women received detailed information about the project and had the chance to ask questions. Their enthusiasm marks a promising first step toward the success of this initiative, which will foster both economic independence and community resilience.
